MERCOCIUDADES, established as the sub-national multilateral network of the most important integration process in South America, assumes a leading role in the region, contributing to the collaborative and articulated construction of sustainable development from the local level.
On this occasion, the XXIII Summit of Mercocities, as the highest level of direction and deliberation of the Network, will be held on December 5, 6 and 7 in the city of La Paz-Bolivia; opportunity in which he will assume the presidency of Mercocities. For this version of the Summit, the host city raises the slogan "Culture: Pillar of integration and sustainable development", with the purpose of revaluing the cultural identity of South America, and position its relevance as well as economic stability, social equity and environmental balance for urban contexts.
The Summit will have the concurrence of mayors, prefects, mayors and deputy commissions of local member governments; academic guests, exhibitors, representatives of international organizations, NGOs, diplomatic bodies, universities, among others.
The planned activities include the "Seminar on Culture as 4th pillar of sustainable development", Presentation of the project "Neighborhoods and Communities of Truth", Exchange of Experiences on Resilience, Localization of the SDGs, Citizen Laboratory for Governance and Citizen Participation.
