Local 2030: Localizing the SDGs is organizing a global activity in Venice, Italy to bring together local and central governments, together with financing for development partners to debate about the needs and opportunities of investing in cities to achieve the Agenda 2030 at local level.
Local2030 is a network that brings together an impressive network of partners including the UN System, governments at all levels, the private sector, academia and civil society to support and accelerate the implementation of the SDGs at the local level.
The Venice activity is hosted by AICCRE, the Italian association of local governments for the CEMR, and United Cities and Local Government, who also sponsors the event under the framework of the activities of UNACLA, the United Nations Advisory Committee of Local Authorities. The activity is financially supported by Platforma.
The Venice City Solutions is co-organized by UN-Habitat, United Nations Capital Development Fund – UNCDF and the United Nations Development Programme under the initiative Local 2030: Localizing the SDGs, coordinated by the Office of the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations.
The event is opened to local governments, ministries in charge of planning, finances or overall implementation of Agenda 2030, as well as selected partners such development banks, donors and private sector with the objective to identify existing experiences, gathering data and providing solutions to the challenge of how to finance the implementation of the SDGs at local level.
Four thematic trails will be addressed in Venice:
Thematic trail BLUE: National strategies for financing the achievement of the SDGs at local level
Thematic trail YELLOW: City Solutions, how local governments are making the Agenda 2030 a reality at local level
Thematic trail GREEN: Data available on financing the Agenda 2030 at local level
Thematic trail RED: The contribution of private sector to implement Agenda 2030 at local level
