This week delegations from around the world are in New York to review the progress on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals during the High Level Political Forum 2017 on Sustainable Development.
 
In this framework, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Institutional Relations and Transparency, Government of Catalonia is organizing a side-event on "Global Partnerships to implement the 2030 Agenda". The event, to be hold on Friday, 14 July, at 8 am will gather a panel of national and regional governments to discuss governmental SDG plans. Following the initial panel, civil society and UN agency representatives will discuss coordination mechanisms from multilateral and civil society perspectives.
 

Objective of the parallel event

  • To discuss examples of best practices and strategies for implementing and coordinating the 2030 goals.
  • To analyse how government plans can promote better and more efficient coordination to achieve SDGs.
  • To contribute to examples of best practices of linked-up governance between public administrations and other domestic and international stakeholders.
  • Identify commonly defined means of implementation and multi-level coordination.
  • To contribute towards global partnerships, specifically SDG 17 ‘Revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development’

The following panellists will present their Plans for the 2030 Agenda and propose potential synergies for building effective partnerships towards the SDGs achievement:

  • Arnau Queralt. Director of the Advisory Council for the Sustainable Development of Catalonia (CADS);
  • Amy Gill, Local Governance Specialist, Responsive and Accountable Institutions Team, Governance and Peacebuilding Cluster, Bureau for Policy and Programming Support, UNDP;
  • Diego Padilla, Minister Counsellor Mission of the Republic of Costa Rica to the UN;
  • Brenda King, Chair European Economic and Social Committee Sustainable Development Observatory;
  • Prof. Günther Bachmann, Secretary General of German National Council for Sustainable Development;
  • Mabel Bianco, Co-Chair NGO CSW Latin American and Caribbean Committee, President of FEIM;
  • Marla Gonzales, World Vision Advocacy Director (TBC)
